「これが、ローランド産だとは誰も思わないだろう。」パネリストの誰かが言った意見に、皆が一致した。強烈に蜂蜜が香り、蜂蜜酒のようだった。また、チェリーとオレンジピール、カラメル、かすかにスモーク、茶箱、湿った麻布、奇妙なブタンガスのひと吹きが香る。生のままの風味は、初めは唐辛子、ウイキョウの種で強烈だが、飲み込んでしまうと、温かな蜂蜜やクランキーバーの、絹のようになめらかでまろやかな記憶が残る。加水後の香りの中に、ワックス、石鹸、砕かれたどんぐり、そして“犬に噛まれた革”を発見する。味は、かなり甘いようにみえ、オレンジと石鹸の泡、あとから豊かなナッツの風味へと変わる。
You'd never guess this was a Lowland someone said and that was the consensus. The nose was powerfully honeyed and mead-like; it also had cherries, orange peel and caramel, slight smoke, tea caddies, wet sacking and a curious butane whiff. The unreduced palate was initially fierce, with chilli and fennel seeds but once swallowed, left the palate with silky-smooth, mellow memories of warm honey and Crunchie bars. On the reduced nose we found wax, soap, crushed acorns and `dog-chewed leather`. The palate now seemed very sweet, with orange and soapy bubbles, turning nutty later. The distillery straddles the canal near Falkirk.
