夜の一杯、魚売り女の喜び A dram at night, fishwives’ delight

素晴らしく強い香りがフィッシャーマンズフレンズ（ハーブキャンディ）、石けん、絆創膏、炭塵をもたらした。それから古い漁船のデッキで燻製タラのチャウダーが出された。ディーゼル、タールまみれのロープ、魚箱が一緒になった。 岸辺には焚き火があり、周囲の草やヒースを照らしていた。味はニシンのオードブル、サバのマリネ、スイートピクルスにケッパーの北欧料理盛り合わせが待っていた。「カリカリにしたベーコンの脂身だ」 と誰かが興奮して叫んだ。 加水すると、「アムステルダマー」タバコ、「メンソレータム」、アニシードボール、そして魚売り女が背負ったニシンのカゴ。味には幾らかのクローブ、ニシンの燻製、バニラスライス、そしてレーズン入りのピーテッドウイスキー・アイスクリーム。 The wonderfully intense nose gifted us Fisherman’s Friends, carbolic soap, Elastoplast and coal dust. Then smoked haddock chowder was served up on the deck of an old fishing boat. Diesel, tarry ropes and fish boxes combined. On the shore there were bonfires, setting light to the surrounding grass and heather. On the palate a Scandinavian platter awaits with rollmops, mackerel ceviche, sweet pickles and capers. “Frazzled bacon fat!” someone exclaimed excitedly. With water, Amsterdammer tobacco, deep heat, aniseed balls and herring baskets on a fishwife’s back. To taste, some cloves, kippers, vanilla slices and peated whisky ice cream with raisins.
