泡立つ果実の複雑さ A lively, fruity complexity

すばらしいルビーの色合いは、香りに表れている―ザクロ、ブラッドオレンジ、ブラックカラントのジャム、砂糖漬けのチェリー、Vimto〈炭酸飲料〉。大量のフルーツとデメララ糖。だれかが「ナッツ味が特徴」と言うが、残りのものは、そのコメントにけんか腰となる。味は、ザクロ、苦味のあるマーマレード、バニラ、カラメル状になった砂糖、アンゴスチュラ皮〈南米産のミカン科〉のような、ビターマーマレードの味がして、後からすばらしい余韻が残る。加水すると、マジックバルーン〈風船を使って動物などを作る〉、咳止めシロップ、コールタールソープ、Ambre Solaire〈日焼け用オイル〉やナッツオイルへと、再び香りが変わる。一滴の水が、泡立つ果実味の複雑さを誘発する。男性テイスティングパネラーは、ラズベリー味のウエハースやアイスクリームコーンの上にかかる‘Monkey’s blood（ラズベリーソース）’の思い出話に耽る。1894年、ジョン・ダフ氏によって建設された蒸溜所からのかなり特別なドラム。 Fabulous ruby tints were reflected in the nose - pomegranates, blood oranges, blackcurrant jam, glacé cherries and Vimto. Lots of fruit and Demerara; someone said, `Nutty characters` the rest of us bristled. The palate was tannic but fruity with pomegranate, bitter marmalade, vanilla, caramelised sugar and angostura; delivering a great afterglow. The reduced nose changed again - magic balloons, cough syrup, coal-tar soap, Ambre Solaire suncream and nut oil. A drop of water elicited a lively, fruity complexity; the Whisky-bard reminisced about raspberry wafers and 'monkey's blood' on ice-cream cones.
