最初の香りは、石鹸、灰、そしてメンソールが印象に残る。やがて、焙煎したブラジルコーヒー、表面を軽く焦がしたバニラのさや、グリルしたハム、パイナップル、焦げたヘザーの丘の斜面―焦げた香りが現れる。のちに、香りはさらに深まり、熟れたメロン、油のしみこんだ布、クレオソートとシガーボックスへと移行する。加水すると、石鹸がメインへと戻る―カーボンとMatey〈泡風呂剤〉―この上もなく幸福になり、夢中にさせる一杯。加水前の味は、大量の灰と辛さ（Victory V’s〈のど飴〉、ホースラデッシュ）に、十分に炒ったチョコレートの中のナッツが感じられる。木炭の中の花―塩味と甘味―極めてすばらしい！加水してもなお、穏やかな甘さ、そして苦味と胡椒―口元をチクチクと刺激する小さな残り火―を感じる。蒸溜所は1815年から創業。
Initial nose impressions included soap, ash and menthol; then burnt notes emerged (toasted Brazils, singed vanilla pods, grilled ham and pineapple, scorched heather hillsides). Later on it deepened further into ripe melon, oily rags, creosote and cigar boxes. The soapy theme returned with water - carbolic and Matey - a dram to submerge yourself in, blissfully. The unreduced palate had lots of ash and heat (Victory V's, horseradish) with well-toasted nuts in chocolate. Flowers in charcoal - salty and sweet - magnificent! Even with water - smoothly sweet but tannic and peppery - it left little fires flickering around our mouths. The distillery dates from 1815.
