最初の香りはかなり典型的だった。ジャーモリーンと包帯、塩辛い魚のレモン風味グリル焼き、海藻、潮溜まりと浜辺の焚き火、おそらくかすかなバニラアイスクリームも。だが、加水するとこれが広がって、帆布、蜂蜜と蜜蝋、砕けた貝殻、そして庭小屋にある芝刈り機が現れた。ストレートの味には若々しさがあった。大きくて美味しいが激しく辛い。塩辛く、スモーキーで、塩水っぽく、甲殻類のバーベキュー焼き、ライム入りサルサ、白コショウ、木材の灰、チョコレート・ライム、そして葉巻をふかしているドラゴンの声。加水するとオイリーさ、咳止めキャンディ、そして微かな防腐剤が現れた。我々の判定 – 若いが楽しい。この蒸溜所は「アイラ島の海峡」という名前だ。
The initial nose was fairly typical – Germolene and bandages, salty grilled fish with lemon, seaweed, rock-pools and beach bonfires – maybe a touch of vanilla ice-cream. With water however, this expanded to include canvas, honey and beeswax, crushed seashells and a diesel lawnmower in a garden hut. The youthfulness showed in the neat palate – big and tasty but fiery hot – salty, smoky, briny, barbecued shellfish, lime salsa, white pepper, wood ash, chocolate limes and talk of cigar-smoking dragons. Water brought out the oiliness, cough candy and TCP – our verdict – young but fun. The distillery is named after the Sound of Islay.
